Early Bird Radio Grows!

I study film, am highly involved in audio/ radio production, and all around love to express myself.

A mentor and friend of mine recently said “I love the distribution of information” and when it comes down to it, thats all I want to do.

Weather I work in radio, tv, or film doesn’t matter.  I just want to tell people stuff.  Thats all.

At my sisters high school graduation last night, the superintendent spoke about an ever changing world where teachers are faced with the challenge of preparing youth for careers that they have as elementary a knowledge of as the students.  This is primarily due to the rapid developments in today’s technologies… obviously.

Blogging has re-enforced a notion in my mind- weather I am doing a radio show, producing a film piece, or writing a personal blog entry, preparing content for people is fun.  Time consuming.  But fun.

With that said, I want to direct you to a new website founded by me!  It will combine TV, Radio, and Print all in one place!  This website is an investment for my future and I hope to gain enough support in its making to, if nothing else, expand and diversify my skills beyond the abilities offered by a college education.

The site is under heavy construction as you will hopefully see.  Input is much appreciated!  Enjoy!

This blog will remain my personal place to reflect on media, work, and life!

NEW IMAGING!

1 Month Update

Wow… I’ve been taking care of FRS for 1 full month now.  It’s going fast.  I believe I’ve accomplished alot here.  Not to brag or anything!

I feel it appropriate to inform you (especially those of you who are members of FRS) what been happening here.

First of all, if you’ve tuned in lately you may have noticed a plethera of new music!  This is especially true in the HOT block (1-2, m-f).  I have to say- Bill, you’ve had the hardest job here at the station, or at least the most time consuming job.  And let me tell you, I love promoters!  Either way, I have taken the HOT category and made it coorelate what WE are charting to CMJ.  I hope you like it (let me know if you have suggestions).  The heavy, medium and light categories are dropping a few pounds as well.  Not too much don’t worry.

Other programming changes-  I’ve added a segment with Vince’s help to NPR called “The low down on Science”.  It airs at 20 past 7AM and 4PM.

NEW Imaging!  I have created some new imaging that I think everyone will enjoy.  I hope to do alot more because It is not my forte and I need the practice.

The archives fell behind for a while but I have been keeping up with the librarian work for the last couple weeks.  Another under appreciated and time consuming job!

I started a show with my Fiancee Caitlin!  It is a primarily rock oriented show called “Fruit on the Bottom” on Wednesday nights from 8-9.  You should listen in because we spin new music along with a flashback to the 90′s at the end and funny news in the middle!  Tonight’s show will be pre-produced because I am going to see Passion Pit in Buffalo!  I will do everything I can to grab liners.

All in all the station has been running smooth with all syndicated programing running as usual.  We’ve actually had 3 new DJ’s come in from the community.

In the next month or so I hope to ad more speakers outside the office, add imaging, cut the fat off automation, increase PSA numbers, and scrub the hell out of this dusty office!

Stay in touch… It gets lonely here:)

A little late but amazing none the less!
